Joseph Saei - Alumni SpotlightJoseph Saei joined the Peace Corps and currently serves in Morocco.

The 2010 graduate, Joseph (Yusuf) Eric Saei, has a life that doesn't skip a beat. Always the well-versed student, Saei received his bachelor's degree in Philosophy and minored in Communication and French, and he received numerous accolades as an undergraduate at the College including the highest student honor, the Bishop Robert Smith Award.

With an undergraduate resume like that, Saei had his pick of post-graduate opportunities. He applied and was accepted into both Duke University School of Law and the Peace Corps. Saei opted to pursue a summer cultural exchange program in Rabat, Morocco as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. While overseas, Saei learned Arabic and joined the Peace Corps. He currently serves as a Youth Development Volunteer in Morocco.

Among his other notable undergraduate accomplishments:

  • Lowcountry Phi Beta Kappa Outstanding Student Award
  • HSS Scholars Award (Philosophy)
  • Departmental Honors (Philosophy)
  • Presidential Scholarship
  • Bechtel Systems and Infrastructure Citizen scholarship
  • Two essays published in Chrestomathy, Volume 8
  • Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad grant (American University program in Cairo, Egypt)
